The Western Cape town of Rondebosch is set to become a hub for solar energy, with a number of large-scale installations planned for the area. The move comes as the city looks to reduce its reliance on traditional forms of energy generation, and make use of its abundant sunshine.Solar energy has been identified as a key growth area for the city, and a number of companies have already expressed interest in investing in the sector. Rondebosch solar installations are seen as ideal due to its high levels of sunlight and relatively low rainfall.

The city council is currently working on a number of initiatives to promote solar energy, including providing financial incentives for businesses and households to install solar panels. It is hoped that the city will be able to generate 10% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
